It's been fairly busy lately and with taking pictures, editing pictures, updating my website, my facebook page, and parenting Brooklyn keeping my blog updated is one more thing to add to my list.

Maternity - stunning Alethia

My very good friend is due at the end of August. This will be her second and last baby so I want to make sure we capture her glowing pregnant body at its finest.
She was great at letting me try new things, since I'm always trying to think of new, fresh ideas :)

8.5 month old - Adorable Dara!

Dara was SO cute! She was most definitely the smiliest baby I've had! Her parents informed me that she is always this happy and smiley at home. How lucky for them!

4 month old - Kayla

Kayla and her family live down south but have family here in Smithers and were given the wonderful gift of a photo session for their 4 month old from Kayla's aunt.
This is definately a hard age to photograph because they are very limited in what they can do, but we still had fun with her!

Kaedon was so precious. It's been a long time since I had a newborn boy who slept well during the session. Kaedon broke that pattern and slept almost the full 3 hours.I hope the pattern continues!

I definitely had to work to get pictures of this little guy. He was feisty! Didn't want to sleep the whole session. But mom and I managed to wait him out and get him asleep a little. I always have a harder time with newborn boys. Not sure why...

I had the pleasure (and nervousness) of photographing a fellow wedding and family photographer, Rose, of Simply Rose Photography.
We had been in contact via e-mail for a few weeks agreeing on an exchange in sessions (she photographed me and my family in exchange for her studio portraits).
It was a great experience and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to swap sessions with an amazing photographer. Rose will be leaving Smithers at the end of the month and we can only hope she will return one day as her amazing weddings will be missed!
Thanks Rose for being fun and creative... I love it when clients "think outside the box"!

He was a real challenge! We spent 3hrs trying to get him to sleep with no luck, so mom and baby came back to try again the next day. Much better.

New Prop! Pettiskirt!

Yup! I Love it! Just arrived is a new fluffy pettiskirt. I can see myself using it alot. I hope to buy more in the future in different colors.
This one fits Brooklyn (3 months) and it can easily stretch and fit other babies 12+ months!

I had recently bought an indoor studio light that I never got around to even testing out.
Once I hit 34 weeks into my pregnancy I thought it was time to take some photos of my belly to remember, and what a perfect time to test out my light for the first time.
Obviously, I needed some help from Michael (husband) as they were photos of myself.

After a long time being cursed with "morning sickness", Michael and I went away for a couple days to hang out and enjoy summer (and the gorgeous weather we got) with a friend at her cabin on the lake. We had a great time just hanging out enjoying this time before we become a family of 3 (well, 4, if you include Lexy) :)

Finally Back... with a new lens!

After a longer than expected time away I am finally back! During my trip down to Vancouver and Washington in April I found out I am pregnant!!! Almost immediately after I returned home I was hit with the good ol' morning sickness... except mine last all day! Now, 5 months pregnant I am still sick... but I do feel a little better at times so I decided it's time to get out and take some pictures again. I bought a new Tamaron 17-5omm 2.8 lens. Here are the first images taken with it:

Away until April 20th

I'm leaving early Thurs to travel down to Vancouver, Bellingham, WA and Vancouver Island with my sister and mom.
I guess it will be a girls getaway.
While in Vancouver I will be attending another workshop about my on camera accessory flash (Speedlight). Then when I get to the Island I will hopefully have sometime to take more maternity photos of my pregnant cousin as well as couple photos of my other cousin and her boyfriend.
I hope to have some fun pictures to share when I get back.

Photo Workshop

I attended a photo workshop during easter weekend.
It was a Basic/Intermediate Intensive workshop that basically covered the technical side of photography, as well as a few other things. The instructor said everything we learn in these two days, he learnt in his first year of university!
Most of it I had already knew, but I never formally took any classes/workshops so I figured before I branch out into other interesting workshops I would take this one :)
At the end of the second day our instructor brought in two models and set up a lightbox and told us to go at it. I'd never used studio lighting before and I've never had any training on it, but I'm pretty happy with how most of these turn out :)

**Sorry they're so out of order..... I'm still getting used to this site! lol
